HitlerAdolf Hitler was the chancellor of Germany. He fought in World War I, and after the war, he joined the National Socialist German Workers’ Party, which is known as the Nazi Party. He rose in the ranks of the party by feeding off the anger that existed within the German people caused by the Treaty of Versailles. He eventually becoming the party’s leader, and in his book Mein Kampf, he established the main objectives of the Nazi Party. His goals were to unify all German people under one empire, implement racial purification under the idea that the Germans made up the master race destined to rule the world, and expand the German empire. He was able to accomplish his goals when he became the chancellor of Germany, disassembled the Weimar Republic, and established the Third Reich. When he became the leader of Germany, he formed alliances with Fascist Italy and Militarist Japan.
From there, Hitler took control of Austria, Czechoslovakia, and Sudetenland, countries filled with people who spoke German. His invasion of Poland started World War II. During the war, he implemented racial purification within his empire. It started with the Nuremberg Laws that stripped Jews of their citizenship, property, and rights, then it was the Kristallnacht, where Nazis attacked and destroyed Jewish establishments along with killing, injuring and arresting them. Afterwards, ghettos were used to contain Jews and allow them to die through starvation and disease. Hitler’s Final Solution was created to target the Jews, communists, socialists, liberals, gypsies, Jehovah’s Witnesses, homosexuals, mentally deficient, mentally ill, physically disabled, and incurably ill. Killing squads travelled and killed Jews on the spot. Then, concentration camps were put into place to hold the undesirables and force them to work and be humiliated and tortured. Most died within these camps through slaughter, starvation, exhaustion, and poison gas chambers. By the end of the war, the Allies were beating the Germans, captured land, and liberated the death camps; eventually, Germany was forced to surrender. On April 29, 1945, Hitler married Eva Braun, his companion, and they committed suicide. |
